Stafford Rangers suffered their first Evo-Stik Division One South defeat of the season against a physical Shaw Lane Aquaforce side.

But manager Neil Kitching had no complaints about the scoreline, admitting his side had been outfought by their South Yorkshire hosts.

He said: "I am disappointed the run has come to an end, but we didn't deserve anything. There were two good sides going toe to toe and one team turned up and one team didn't.

"Shaw Lane have out-battled us, out-muscled us all over the park, were physically too strong for us and we haven't stood up to the battle."

Aquaforce opened the scoring when a ball played over the top by Steven Istead wasn't cleared and the giant Gavin Allott fired past Rangers goalkeeper Adam Whitehouse.

Allott had hit the post from a similar position after five minutes while, at the other end, a weak Ben Haseley effort was the best Rangers could manage in the first-half.

Only a few minutes had gone in the second-half when Adam Priestley netted an overhead kick from six yards out.
