Gary Whild's side, without a victory in their previous six games, produced a stunning fightback with goals from Gurjit Singh and Reece Styche in the final minutes to give Harriers an unlikely point when they made it 2-2.

Whild said: "In all fairness, I thought we got what we deserved in the second half."

Tranmere, with former Harriers' frontman Nathan Blissett leading the line, always looked dangerous with their build up play and on 20 minutes they went ahead.

Liam Ridehalgh found space on the left to swing the ball in and centre back Liam Hogan swept the ball across Alex Palmer into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Harriers reacted as Joe Clarke fired narrowly wide but from the resultant goal kick Harriers defensive frailties surfaced once more.

Davies' goal kick bounced just inside the Harriers half between Lathaniel Rowe Turner and Jordan Tunnicliffe falling kindly for Andy Mangan.

The experienced striker cut inside the recovering Tunnicliffe to curl a right footed shot beyond Palmer.

Gradually Harriers regained their composure and pushed for a goal, it arrived with five minutes remaining and owed all to the perseverance of substitute Gurj Singh.

Singh chased an apparent lost cause as Hogan looked to shepherd a long ball out of play but the Harriers striker hooked it round the defender and cut along the byeline before drilling a low shot inside Scott Davies' near post.

This lifted the visitors and further pressure on the home defence paid dividends as Adam Dawson found space to deliver a deep cross, Andrew Fox headed the ball back across goal and Reece Styche showed his experience bringing it down and drilling a low shot past Davies to send the 172 Harriers fans into raptures.

Whild added: "At the moment we get punished with balls coming into our box."
