And they almost sneaked the win deep in injury time, Glassboys keeper Lewis Solly pulling off an excellent save to keep out a fierce Luke Benbow effort to keep the score at 2-2.

Such excitement seemed a distant hope throughout much of a dismal first half that only came to light in the closing stages.

On 40 minutes Leon Broadhurst was denied by Rushall keeper Dean Coleman and when the ball rolled out to Matt Dodd, the Stourbridge winger's shot was headed off the line by Michael Townsend.

A minute later and Coleman, playing against his former side, had to push a Karl Hawley effort onto the post.

The Pics goal was leading a charmed life and that continued a moments before the break when another Dodd shot was deflected just the wrong side of the far post.

Lewis Solly was finally forced into a save five minutes into the second half when he kept out another point blank Benbow effort but it was the home side who broke the deadlock on 55 minutes when Chris Lait slotted home the loose ball after a Broadhurst free-kick had been parried by Pics keeper Coleman.

Benbow was causing problems for the home defence and he hauled Rushall level on 71 minutes with a gem of a shot that cannoned off the crossbar and into the net.

Striker Kayelden Brown was one of three second half substitutes used by the Glassboys and within five minutes of taking the field he had restored their lead. On 79 minutes he had a shot straight at keeper Coleman but a minute later he made amends with a thundering effort from the edge of the area. But it was all square again two minutes from time, Rushall defender Jack Duggan heading in a Jordan Fitzpatrick corner, with the visitors going closest to snatching the win late on through dangerman Benbow.
