Kennedy Digie's first-ever goal for the Pitmen looked to have wrapped up the win, until Tom Denton's late header levelled the National League North match for North Ferriby United.

Hednesford were almost undone in just the second minute as, following a short back-pass, goalkeeper Dave Parton had to be quick to clear up before Curtis Bateson was left with a simple chance for Ferriby.

The visitors felt they should have been awarded a spot-kick in the seventh minute when a long throw from Ben Bailey into the box struck the arm of a home defender, but the officials waved away the appeals.

Five minutes later, a free-kick from Parton found Ahmed Obeng and, just as the Town striker was about to pull the trigger, defender Ben Middleton got back to turn the ball behind.

The game was very much end-to-end and, after Liam King saw a shot saved by Parton in the Town goal, opposite No 1 Adam Nicklin saved easily from Obeng at the other end.

Ten minutes before the break, another chance came the Pitmen's way as Obeng was played in down the right but his cross couldn't quite fall to Kyle Perry, who saw his shot blocked behind for a corner.

Ryan Kendall brought a good save out of Parton before the break.

Two minutes into the second period, Curtis Tilt had a chance to add to his two goals already this season as a ball into the box found the defender at the back post, but he blazed his effort over.

After making the better start to the half, the Pitmen's pressure finally paid off after 59 minutes as a Sean Williams corner was powerfully headed home by Digie.

Nine minutes later, Tom Thorley saw his low effort saved but the goal had spurred Ferriby into action.

Substitute Danny Emerton had a chance to equalise just before the 70 minute mark as he lobbed Parton, but the ball landed on top of the net.

Within two minutes, another effort from Emerton saw him clear the goal once again when well placed inside the box.

Back came Rob Smith's side and, after Obeng saw his effort flash wide of the back post, Bailey did something similar.

They would be made to pay for these misses though as, in the 84th minute, the home side equalised as Tom Denton looped a header into the far corner of the net after being left unmarked.
