After a 2-1 opening-day win at Daventry, Boro were only denied back-to-back victories by a goal seven minutes into stoppage time in the 2-2 draw with Romulus on Tuesday.

Kitching said: "We've started well and everyone in this league sees us as a major scalp, so we have to be careful we don't get carried away."

Next up for Rangers is a visit from Lincoln United tomorrow (3pm). Lincoln have opened their campaign with a win and a defeat.

Chasetown have had a similar start and manager Dave Stringer is also disappointed not to be sitting on six points – but has been boosted by the shock return of striker Paul Sullivan from injury.

Nathaniel Waite fired them to a 1-0 victory at Leek Town before Sullivan – who Stringer expected to miss the first fortnight of the season – put them in front at home to Kidsgrove Athletic.

The only blot on the Scholars' copybook is the equaliser they conceded within seconds of the restart – but six points this week would remove any lingering frustration.

Stringer, whose side host Sheffield tomorrow (3pm), said: "I'm sure both Leek and Kidsgrove will be in the top six.

"We are happy with four points, but we should have set up to defend better from kick-off and not conceded the equaliser, which was extremely disappointing."

Simon Brown (knee) was bring assessed at training last night, while Chasetown were hoping to tie up a deal for a new midfield player as they turn their attentions to the next two games.

Stringer said: "Sheffield are very hit and miss, so we have to stamp our authority on the game early.

"We have to put pressure on ourselves to win games – if you want to be successful, you have to target points you want and we want full points from the next two."

Pointless Tividale travel to unbeaten Spalding United tomorrow.
