The ex-Tamworth boss arrived at Church Road in late January, before steering the club away from relegation any relegation fears.

Under the 39-year-old, the Scholars went nine games unbeaten in all competitions – Law's tenure ended with a 4-3 defeat AET to Walsall at the Banks's Stadium in the Walsall Senior Cup final.

Law said: "I've made some fantastic friends and met some great people in Chasetown.

"It has been purely circumstantial, I was not looking to leave in the slightest, gears were well in motion as we prepared for next season.

"The deal has come about over the last 48 hours, they've been hectic, but this is the industry that we're in, anything can happen in a short space of time.

"The carrot Kettering dangled in front me was just too big, for my families' sake too – I had to take any emotional connection with Chase out of it."

The ex-Tamworth boss continued to praise the 'friends' at Church Road, before insisting he would remain in touch with the club.

"It's been an enjoyable and fantastic time, everyone I have met, from Mick Joiner (CEO), Janice Brookes (Treasurer), Charlie Blakemore and all of the groundsmen," he said.

"I've really needed to make this a decision not based on emotion, because I am truly sad to be leaving Chasetown.

"The offer I received was just too inviting and it enticed me, in terms of me and my family.

"I will, without doubt, remain in touch and help the club out in any way that I can.

"They belong in the division above, that's for sure."

After securing safety, Chase fell to four consecutive league defeats at the end of the season, eventually finishing 13th in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier First Division South.

It had been expected that Law would lead the march back to the Evo-Stik Premier during 2015/16, but an offer from old club Kettering Town, who have stepped into the Southern Premier Division, proved too much to turn down.

The club will now be taking in applications to fill the vacant managerial position at the Scholars Ground.
