Halesowen Town snap up PSV Eindhoven starlet

Halesowen Town have gone Dutch after snapping up teenage starlet Passeka Kargbo from PSV Eindhoven.

The 17-year-old has joined the club's academy after moving to the West Midlands from the Dutch giants.

The left-winger, who can also play up front, had been training with the Yeltz for six weeks as they waited for international clearance, but could make the squad for tomorrow's trip to Sheffield FC.

Kargbo trained with the first team before last week's 5-0 win over Romulus, which left Halesowen ninth in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South.

Manager John Hill will noe ease in the Netherlands-born Sierra Leone winger, whose parents have joined him in England.

Youth secretary John Smith said: "He is like a whippet, he's 5ft 5in and he's like lightning. He's signed for the first team and he's already been training with them.

"He has already played for the second team at PSV, but we don't know how long it will take him to break in here. He will go higher given the opportunity and, if anyone sees him, they will want to take a chance.

"He scored in the youth team's game with Bromsgrove on Tuesday. It was abandoned after an hour because of fog when we were winning 2-1 but John Hill was there to have a look at him.

"He was coming over here to go to college and he got in touch with our youth team manager, Andre Whyte, and asked if he could come to training.

"They are going to give him a few games in the youth team first."

Kargbo joins Shabir Khan, who signed from Blue Square North side Worcester City last week and played in the win over Romulus.
