Harriers go out of the FA Youth Cup

Kidderminster Harriers academy boss Jerry Gill today insisted he was “proud” of his players despite them bowing out of the FA Youth Cup to Carlisle.
Harriers went down 1-0 to the Football League club in the second round at Aggborough last night, Mark Beck’s 64th minute header settling the tie.
An away tie against Premier League opposition in Fulham was the prize for the winner but, despite a valiant effort, Harriers’ fledglings are out.
But Gill has told his side to look at the positives of coming through four rounds to get this far, before coming up against an established outfit.
The club’s academy was only formed in the summer, in conjunction with Stourbridge College, and Gill believes they have come a long way in a short space of time.
He said: “They should be proud at what they have achieved. We have only been together since June and to get where we have got at this stage is nothing short of a minor miracle.
“People are starting to see the philosophy we have at the football club and the way we are going – that was on show with the way we pass the ball and move it, playing with an incision.
“I am very proud of the lads and yet I am here feeling a bit frustrated, because we maybe could have nicked it.”
