The club were quick to get the Spaniard in for an operation after he injured his anterior cruciate ligament in the recent Europa League last-16 win over Olympiacos.

And the 26-year-old fans’ favourite has thanked everyone for their well-wishes.

Otto posted on Twitter: “Hi, guys. The operation went well and now I’m starting my recovery. Thanks for your messages.”

With such injuries typically taking six to nine months to get over, the wing-back will now go on a gradual rehabilitation process.

Club doctor Matt Perry will be keeping a close eye on his progress over the next few months.
