Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham are among the sides in the Premier League who have told their players they are able to use their training facilities while still respecting social distancing rules.

And yesterday Albion’s management team – including head coach Slaven Bilic and technical director Luke Dowling – held talks to discuss when their players should report for duty.

Having twice managed Croatia at the European Championships, Bilic has previously said he needs three weeks to get his players in peak condition.

And the boss wants to make sure his players don’t return too early with the 51-year-old eager they come to the boil when the season does eventually resume.

But Bilic is also wary of the mental effects training in isolation will be having on his squad.

And he and other senior officials feel it may be beneficial for the morale of the players if they able to train in groups of two or three while still respecting social distancing rules.

Meanwhile, Albion have agreed with Sporting Lisbon to delay the first payment they make for the permanent transfer of Matheus Pereira.

The money was was due to be transferred on May 31 – the day the 2019/20 season officially finishes.

But the payment will now be made after Albion have played their final nine games of the season or it is completed in another format.
