West Brom call for fans to support Acorns Black Country Hospice

Volunteers will be out in force around the stadium with a bucket collection in aid of the Appeal, aims to raise £2million to help safeguard the future of the Walsall-based hospice.

The hospice looks after the more than 200 children and their families who rely on its lifeline care and support.

Zoe Baggott, Acorns Senior Area and Events Fundraising Manager, said: “We’re beyond grateful to West Bromwich Albion for allowing us to hold a bucket collection during their leap day fixture against Wigan for our Black Country Hospice Appeal.

“This is just one of a number of ways the Club is supporting Acorns by helping to raise awareness of our work and our ongoing fight to save our hospice in Walsall. We hope Baggies fans will join the club and support our Appeal by digging deep and giving generously on Saturday.”

Albion Chief Executive Mark Jenkins said: “We’re all backing this Appeal because this Hospice plays a vital role in our community and we really must do all we can to help.

“The club have committed to a range of supportive initiatives and we are confident our fans will be dig deep on Saturday."

Meanwhile, broadcaster and Baggies fan Adrian Goldberg is urging Albion supporters to donate to Smethwick Food Bank at a new collection point he is opening tomorrow.

The Birmingham-born journalist is opening the collection point at Brasshouse Community Centre, in Smethwick – 10 minutes from The Hawthorns.

From 2pm tomorrow, supporters will be able to donate with the food bank after tinned and dried food, instead of fresh produce.
