The Baggies keeper, who joined Albion last summer, tweeted on Thursday: "Should save everything according to some ppl. always positive."

It came after Johnstone was criticised by some supporters on Twitter for failing to save Ovie Ejaria's shot on Wednesday night in a 1-1 draw with Reading.

When one fan responded in support of Johnstone, saying 'most folks dishing out the stick have no experience between the sticks', Albion's No.1 responded: "Or even anywhere on the pitch."

Another fan account called The Rainbow Stand claimed Johnstone needed to improve with how he dealt with aerial balls into the box and long-range shots, causing the Albion keeper to respond again.

Johnstone said: "Just like u want to pick up on negatives. U don’t rate me that’s fine, some do some don’t. That’s life.

"Must look so so easy from where u sit which I hope is behind the goal so u can nearly see what I and the team do. Ps, ur boring now. The end."

Johnstone joined Albion from Manchester United last summer for £6.5million, replacing Ben Foster.

Opinions on the 26-year-old have been divided since then, but no keeper made more saves in the Championship last season than Johnstone.
