The 19-year-old, on-loan from Villa, was sent vile racist messages on Instagram in late February.

Both Walsall and Villa released statements at the time supporting the youngster and condemning the actions.

In the aftermath of the incident Facebook, who own Instagram, confirmed to the Express & Star that they had removed the account that sent the messages alongside 'additional connected accounts' – believed to add up to three accounts in total.

The Hate Crime Unit at West Midlands Police have been investigating the abuse and days after the incident a 17-year-old boy was voluntarily interviewed and released.

Now, the police have provided the CPS with a file of evidence to consider regarding the investigation.

The CPS will now decide whether to prosecute anyone believed to be involved.
