Ahead of the coronavirus stopping football in its tracks, the Saddlers were unbeaten in five league games and had picked up points against promotion chasing sides – including wins over both Northampton and Exeter.

The 3-1 win at home to Exeter on March 7 was their last game before lockdown and the two months since have been difficult for Sinclair and the squad.

“I’m just frustrated really,” he said.

“Like a lot of people that have to stay at home and are being restricted, it’s frustrating.

“Especially as we were not far off the end of the season and we were in good form weren’t we – that’s frustrating as well. It was an enjoyable period (before the season was suspended) and that made it frustrating, even though it feels like quite a while ago.

“It would have been nice to see where that would have transpired and where it would have gone, but obviously now it’s going to be completely different, we don’t know what’s going to happen – it’s all up in the air.”
