The 32-year-old is one of the older members of the squad that is packed out with several younger and up and coming players.

Throughout the season, before it was suspended due to coronavirus, the club went through patches of good and bad form and Sinclair believes once that consistency is found over a full campaign, that the squad is capable of success.

“I’ve said from the start that I think we have a good, young, exciting side,” he said. “Consistency is the most important thing, but it’s an exciting period for the football club.

“There’s some good, young footballers that are progressing well and the next step is that consistency.

“That is probably one of the toughest things to accomplish as a footballer, to be consistent.

“There’s a lot of games and to try and be consistent over that period is challenging, that is the next step for the squad.”

Sinclair left Bristol Rovers on a free transfer last year to join up with former manager Darrell Clarke at Walsall – in a summer which saw 16 players join the club.

“It’s been enjoyable. It’s been a challenge with lots of ups and downs like there is in football,” he added. “These last couple months have been an interesting period in my footballing career. I’ve enjoyed my time and I’m looking forward to getting back now.”
