The club haven't played since March 7 – a 3-1 win at home to Exeter – with the outbreak causing all games to be called off indefinitely.

The Saddlers ran the early bird season ticket campaign from February 22 to April 10, extending it twice in that time to give fans a chance to buy, and they have now announced that sales are up by 10 per cent on the same point last season.

On the final day of sales, ticket office manager Laura Greenhouse sold 200 tickets, and had to call back several fans who left messages, as the demand grew.

“The early bird campaign was entitled Strength in Numbers,” chairman Leigh Pomlett said.

“It's clear to see that during these very difficult times, Saddlers fans have come out in their numbers and have shown just how much strength we have together as a club.

“Once again we would like to place on record our thanks to everyone who purchased a season ticket during the early bird campaign.”

The club did not reveal the final figure for ticket sales, however Express & Star revealed they did surpass 1,700 sales with 24 hours remaining.
