The 22-year-old has had an impressive campaign, notching seven goals in all competitions.

The team were on a good run of form before the season was suspended, last picking up a 3-1 win over promotion hopefuls Exeter, and while McDonald was ‘frustrated’ to see the season paused, he believes health takes priority.

“I do believe the season should be finished,” he told the D3D4 Football podcast.

“We have 10 games left and teams can drop points, other teams can gain points and you never know where you can finish.

“It definitely was frustrating (for the season to stop), we were on a good run.

“It’s very frustrating but at the end of the day everyone’s health is the main thing.”
