With the League Two season suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Trust have decided to hold their votes based on the season so far. An online poll will be launched on Friday, April 10, at 10am and the link to the poll will be circulated across social media. The poll is open until 10pm on Friday, April 24, and the winners will be announced on Friday, May 1.

The young player of the season award is for those aged 21 or under at the start of the campaign – meaning the whole development squad qualify, alongside several first-team players such as Alfie Bates and Elijah Adebayo. Co-operative Travel have donated a £200 voucher for the winner and a £100 voucher for the young player winner. The Robert Sadler Shield, named after a trust member, is also awarded to the senior player winner.

Trust secretary Steve Davies said: “It gives fans something to do and think about during lockdown and it makes sense when we don’t know when the season will return. We have a new trophy for player of the year this year, named after the gentleman that’s conducted the awards for the last 30 or 40 years.”

The Trust’s Facebook page can be accessed via: https://www.facebook.com/walsallfctrust/. Fans can also vote by texting or ringing Steve on 07799835388.
