The outbreak of the coronavirus has forced the Premier League and EFL to cease all fixtures until April 3 ‘at the earliest’ – with scope to extend that period.

The decision came after both governing bodies called emergency meetings, following the announcements that some high profile figures had contracted the virus, including Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Express & Star understands that the Saddlers are due to train early this week with Tuesday being targeted.

The squad trained on Friday as they planned to face Macclesfield – before the fixtures were postponed – and have since been given the last two days off to rest.

But it’s believed that Darrell Clarke is not giving them an extended break before the fixtures are expected to return in three weeks time.
