A spectacular overhead kick from skipper James Clarke proved the difference at home to Scunthorpe - as the side picked up their fifth clean sheet in 10 games.

And that was what Clarke praised after the game as his backline again stood firm.

“It’s what we are at the moment, robust, defensively strong, another clear sheet - that’s through the team, not just the back lads,” he said.

“We know we’re nowhere near were I want us to get, but it takes a bit of time, we have to try and win games along the way.

“We have to be more clinical again in the final third but we take the win.

“We’ve played very well the last couple of games but it was important to get our first home win.”

“I’ve managed him (James Clarke) for many, many years and trust me when I say that he doesn’t do that every week.

“It was a great match-winning moment, I thought we deserved the win, we just edged a tight game against a team which will improve through the course of the season.”
