Stafford Rangers got the reaction manager Matt Hill wanted from their midweek defeat against Hyde United after beating high-flying Matlock Town.

The Boro showed their signs of intent early on with Joe Cuff and Joe Kenton both having efforts saved.

At the opposite end Matlock showed their danger on the 36th minute with Alex Byrne sending a free-kick just over the bar.

However, it was Rangers who took a 42nd minute lead with Cuff opening the defence before finding Kenton to fire his side ahead.

Rangers sealed the tie early in the second half with Tom Tonks firing home and despite Matlock probing towards the end the hosts hung on.
