Doubles from Emini Adegbenro and Lloyd Ellams saw the side from two divisions below their hosts progress to the next stage and pile on the misery for Boro who prop up the Northern Premier League.

Joe Cuff netted for Stafford in the second half to make it 2-1, but Adegbenro’s penalty and a brilliant solo goal by Ellams caused emotional scenes within the away dug out as their incredible cup run continued.

Adegbenro, who caused the Boro problems all afternoon, has now scored six of Skelmersdale’s 14 goals in the Cup, in a run that dates back to the first day of September.
