Reports in France claim both Villa and Norwich have enquired about the 27-year-old, who is currently playing for Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Villa boss Dean Smith remains eager to add another goalkeeper to provide competition for Jed Steer, who signed a new four-year deal at the club last week.

Stoke City’s Jack Butland and Cardiff City’s Neil Etheridge are both targets, though Villa face paying a considerable fee should they move for either player.

Smith, chief executive Christian Purslow and sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch are in constant contact as the club looks to push on a rebuild of the playing squad.

Multiple targets have been identified in every position of need, with the emphasis placed on bringing in young, ambitious players who fit Villa’s playing style.

Deals for wing duo Anwar El Ghazi and Jota and defender Kortney Hause have so far been completed, with record signing Wesley Moraes still awaiting a work permit before his £22million switch from Club Brugge is rubber-stamped.

The club are awaiting an additional batch of tickets for next month’s pre-season matches at Walsall and Shrewsbury after supporters snapped up the initial allocation for both matches.
