Dean Harrison lands Prizefighter spot

Hometown hero Dean Harrison has been confirmed for the next Prizefighter at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, with a new date and weight set for the tournament.

Organisers Matchroom Sport have decreed the 23rd instalment of Prizefighter will be at light welterweight on Saturday February 11 at the Civic, live on Sky Sports, rather than January 28.

Wolverhampton’s Harrison is the Black Country’s first entrant in the eight-man, one-night, three-rounds-a-fight, winner-take-all tournament, although West Bromwich’s Young Mutley remains in the frame.

But Mutley – who may have problems making light welter at age 35 – is not among the first set of names in the line-up, which goes for Telford’s Mark Lloyd and Coventry’s James Flinn.

English champion Adil Anwar, John Watson and undefeated prospect Tyrone Nurse join Harrison in the first-half of the line up.

Dudley’s Ryan Aston and Coseley’s Tommy Ghent – both signed to Matchroom – also feature as ‘Prizefighter Prospects.’

The undefeated duo, graduates from Priory Park ABC in Dudley, will box in four-round contests outside of the tournament.
