Duo to ‘feel the force’ in ABA Novices

Priory Park ABC’s amateurs are set to feel the force in the quarter-finals of the ABA Novice national championships this weekend.

Two will go up against the Forces’ finest as the Combined Services Boxing Association enter the fray at RAF Cramwell in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

In Class A – boxers who have had 10 bouts or under – three from Priory Park are the sum total of the Black Country’s involvement on Sunday.

Lightweight Danial Hussain, who progressed on points last Sunday at the pre-quarters in Scunthorpe, comes back against the CSBA’s Joe Branch.

Namesake Vakar Hussain clashes with a standard opponent after recieving two ‘walk overs’ – no opponent to box – since the Midlands final.

The featherweight goes in with Marcel Braithwaite, from the Golden Gloves ABC in Liverpool, and a place in the last four is up-for-grabs.

Bantamweight Josh Aston – cousin of pro Ryan – has also been called into action after a ‘walk over’ in the pre-quarters.

Aston is up against another CSBA fighter in Caleb Salero, having last outpointed Stamford ABC’s James Bull in the Midlands final.

The sole Black Country representative left in Class B – boxers who have had 20 bouts or under – has already ‘walked over’ to the semi-finals.

Wednesbury ABC’s Dale Doody, who boxes in the lowest weight category of light fly, has yet to compete in the tournament so far.

What a strange two weeks it has been since our last game. I haven’t looked over my neighbour’s fence with as much interest since Pamela Anderson moved in next door and regularly used her trampoline, writes Albion blogger Jarrod Hill.
