Birmingham have snapped up teenage defensive prospect Jack Deaman on a one-year contract.
The 18-year-old, who turned down a contract at non-league Wrexham in the summer, was reportedly also a target for Celtic, Norwich and Burnley.
Deaman is seen as one for the future at St Andrew’s and will join Blues’ reserve set-up, under the guidance of second-string boss Richard Beale.
He said: “Like all young players he’s got a lot of work to do, but he’s a ball-playing centre half who reads the game well, is 6ft 3ins and can play off either foot.
“He’s got a one-year contract and we hope over the next few months he’ll make strides and achieve the potential that we see in him.
“He’s got a fantastic attitude and good work ethic and those are the type of players we want around our group.”
