Cameron Jerome lines up Bolton move

Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome could complete his move to Bolton before the weekend as the exodus from St Andrew’s continues.

It is understood that Blues have agreed an initial fee of £3.5million in a deal which could be worth up to £6million, although Bolton want to examine a heel injury Jerome sustained in pre-season before finalising the move.

The 24-year-old forward has returned to light training, but Trotters boss Owen Coyle is eager for his medical staff to take a closer look to determine how long it will be until he is fit for action.

Stoke and Fulham are both reported to be keen on signing Jerome, but the player himself is thought to prefer a move to the Reebok Stadium.

Blues have increased attacking options with the signing of Chris Wood on loan from Albion but with Nikola Zigic, who is recovering from groin surgery, expected to leave the club and Marlon King out with a knee injury manager Chris Hughton may need to strengthen.

Hughton’s defensive choices will be boosted with the signing of Anthony Gardner, who is expected to join on a free transfer in the next 24 hours provided he passes a medical.
