Scott Hogan seeks goal joy on Aston Villa home debut
Hotshot Scott Hogan is hoping to create one of the best moments of his life on Saturday – should he make his home debut against Ipswich Town.
The 24-year-old is expected to lead the line with Jonathan Kodjia for Steve Bruce's side when the Tractor Boys come to Villa Park.
Although he failed to find the net against Nottingham Forest on his debut, Hogan showed a few glimpses of the form that persuaded Villa to part with up to £12million during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at the City Ground.
The former Brentford striker has already netted 14 goals for the Bees this season – but a 15th this weekend, a first for Villa, would top the lot.
He said: "My job is scoring goals. And I love that buzz.
"There's nothing better than scoring a goal in front of your own fans – seeing that joy, that elation on the faces of your own fans in the stands. Seeing that raw emotion is the best feeling in the world.
"I can't wait to score my first goal – I want to do that quickly and then kick on.
"I have scored goals in front of 3,000 at Rochdale, 10,000 at Brentford.
"To score in front of 40,000 plus at Villa Park will be one of the very best things I have done in my life, without a shadow of a doubt."
Meanwhile, Neil Taylor should be available to make his debut against Ipswich on Saturday after overcoming a sickness bug.
The left-back, a new signing from Swansea City, was ruled out of the weekend's trip to Nottingham Forest on the morning of the game.
However, he returned to training this week and could be one of five new signings to make their Villa Park bow – Hogan, Conor Hourihane, Birkir Bjarnason and James Bree being the others.
