Aston Villa transfer news: Dwight Gayle deal dead as Scott Sinclair attracts Celtic interest

Newcastle have swooped in ahead Aston Villa to land Dwight Gayle while Scott Sinclair could be heading out the door.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly renewed his interest in the winger and would like a reunion with the former Swansea City star north of the border.

Gayle is expected to have a medical on Tyneside later today ahead of a £9m move.

Sinclair hit his best form under Rodgers for The Swans, but has had three unhappy years away from the Liberty Stadium.

Meanwhile, Villa players returned for pre-season training yesterday and were joined by former skipper Stiliyan Petrov after his recovery from leukaemia.
