The claret and blues are heading down to the Championship at the end of this campaign, after next weekend's curtain call away to Arsenal.

And supporters disgruntled at the running of the club this season are preparing action, after releasing a statement outlining their plans.

It read: "As the curtain begins to draw on what has become Aston Villa's worst season in her illustrious history, we need to ensure that this is our darkest hour, that the rot stops here.

"We must leave Randy Lerner (owner) in no doubt that we are organised, passionate and that we are above all prepared. That we no longer accept his ineptitude.

We must continue to strive for change and at the same time, the supporters of this magnificent club have earned the right to let off steam.

"If this is to be our last opportunity to do so, at the very least for this season, then together we must make it as vibrant as we possibly can.

"Our actions versus Newcastle next Saturday (May 7) will be two-fold.

"First, we want you to meet us outside the Holte End pub (Trinity Road side) at 2.20pm for a supporters march up the Trinity Road to end with a demonstration outside the directors entrance.

"We will bring the cameras, we need you to bring your banners and your lungs. Let our unity in the face of adversity be the their abiding memory of Aston Villa circa 2015-16.

"Then there is #InTheAirOn74, a mass release of energy on the 74th minute. The details of which will become clear over the coming week. Watch this space.

"Thank you for your continued support. We will see you there. Aston Villa Protest Group."
