Aston Villa are close to concluding their investigation into club captain Gabby Agbonlahor, caretaker boss Eric Black has confirmed today.moreAgbonlahor was suspended by the club since last week and an investigation launched.

It came after pictures emerged in a national newspaper of the 29-year-old apparently out partying on the same night Villa were relegated from the Premier League.

Black confirmed the investigation is set to conclude within the next 48 hours.

He said: "With Gabby, the investigation is on-going. It should be (sorted) in the next day or so."

Agbonlahor's suspension came after a controversial few weeks for the striker, Villa's longest-serving player.

The club also launched an investigation into his behaviour during a holiday in Dubai last month.

Though no action was taken over that matter, Black later decided Agbonlahor's condition was not of the level required and placed him on a personal fitness regime.

Villa's relegation was confirmed a fortnight ago and they will seek to avoid a club-record equalling 11th straight defeat at Watford on Saturday.

Defender Ciaran Clark is back available for Villa after missing last Saturday's 4-2 defeat to Southampton through injury, though Kieran Richardson remains out with a calf problem.
