The midfielder was dropped for Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Watford after being pictured in a nightclub following the previous 4-0 loss at Everton.

It is understood Grealish was back with the under-21s again yesterday after manager Garde last week insisted he needed to act more professionally and issued the punishment as Villa battle against relegation.

And Garde said he believes his players are up for the fight to stay in the Premier League.

Saturday's demoralising defeat to Watford left Villa rooted at rock bottom, five points below next nearest club Newcastle and seven shy of the safety zone.

But Garde believes his players did not get their fair share of luck in front of goal and still retain their desire to perform.

" I've got a group of players who at the moment are very unfortunate," said the Frenchman. "They are sad but I can see the commitment they show in training sessions and the way they live at this football club every day. The way we were playing – especially offensively – was quite entertaining and it is the way I think we can win games
