Aston Villa are keeping tabs on the availability of Stoke City midfielder Steven N'Zonzi.

The 26-year-old Frenchman enjoyed another eye-catching season, as the Potters secured their highest-ever Premier League points tally.

Last week, Mark Hughes' side turned down a 'derisory' £3million bid from Spanish club Sevilla.

But it's believed that Tim Sherwood's Villa, along with Albion and West Ham may be more willing to meet Stoke's £6million valuation for the box-to-box tough-tackling midfielder.

The ex-Blackburn Rovers man is entering the final year of his contract at the Britannia Stadium.

And the Potters still optimistic they can tie down the Players' Player and Supporters' Player of the Season with a new contract, even though N'Zonzi handed in transfer requests to City in the last two summers.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are rumoured to have cooled their interest in Christian Benteke as they appear unlikely to match the Belgian forward's reported £32.5million release fee.

Italian Serie A giants Roma are the latest club to take interest in the Villa Park hitman.
