Grealish's father, Kevin, has come in for criticism from Keane, who also holds the No 2 post to former Villa manager Martin O'Neill with the Republic.

They want an answer from over his international future where a full cap would end any notion of Grealish, who has represented the Republic to under-21 level, switching to England.

Keane said: "I don't ask Jack anymore. Sometimes it's respect, you don't want to pester people but, unfortunately, a lot would be coming from Jack's dad.

"Knowing his dad, we could be waiting a bloody long while."
