The stopper played for more than half an hour as a substitute in his country's 2-1 Euro 2016 qualifying victory over Armenia in Copenhagen.

The 22-year-old also came through 90 minutes of Denmark under-21s' 4-2 victory over Russia last Wednesday.

Despite returning to club action in pre-season, Okore has yet to kick a ball competitively for Villa this season after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury.

In his absence, Ron Vlaar and Philippe Senderos have formed an effective partnership, conceding just one goal in three Premier League matches.

Okore's last competitive match for Villa was almost a year ago, when he sustained the knee injury during a home defeat to Newcastle on September 14.

And, as Villa focus on Saturday's trip to Liverpool, Okore has put himself in the frame.

Senderos, meanwhile, said he "didn't have to think twice" about joining Villa.

The defender, who played against England last night, moved in the summer after six months at Valencia.

He said: "Villa is a massive club. It was always a dream to come and play in the Premier League agai.

"As soon as I had an opportunity like Villa to come back, I didn't think twice."
