Aston Villa flop Aleksander Tonev joins Celtic
Aston Villa flop Aleksander Tonev has completed a loan move to Glasgow Celtic.
The 24-year-old Bulgaria international has made just eight starts for Villa since a £2.5m switch from Lech Poznan in June 2013.
The former CSKA Sofia player made a further 12 appearances as a substitute for Paul Lambert's side.
The Hoops can buy Tonev on a permanent basis if the move proves to be a success.
Tonev said: "Joining Celtic is unbelievable, and I feel really good about it.
"I'm delighted to have joined the club and I can't wait to meet up with my new team-mates and start playing for Celtic.
"I already knew all about Celtic."
Meanwhile, the agent of Elche's defensive midfielder Carlos Sanchez says his player is talking with Villa over a move.
Diego Merino was reportedly in the Second City with his player available for any club willing to meet the £1.5m release clause.
Everton and Queens Park Rangers have also been linked with the Colombia international but Villa are now reportedly leading the chase.
The 28-year-old is keen to move to England, having represented his country at the World Cup.
