Gabby Agbonlahor today insisted Christian Benteke has the X-factor to fire Villa’s home improvement.
The 27-year-old believes the big Belgian can inspire the claret and blues after his return from injury.
Benteke made his comeback as a substitute in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham after a month out with a hip problem.
He was afforded a raucous welcome by the Villa Park faithful, who have seen just six home league wins under Paul Lambert.
And Agbonlahor said five-goal top scorer Benteke can lift Villa at home ahead of Saturday’s visit of Everton.
He said: “I think he gives the whole team and the whole stadium a buzz whenever he enters the field.
“He is quiet around the club, but he still gets involved with the banter and he’s a good guy. It’s a credit to him because the whole team gets on with him.”
Agbonlahor is yet to score this term but has set up four of Benteke’s goals. And he believes Benteke’s presence could hand him the chance to break a 10-game drought.
“You might get teams that double up on him and it gives us extra space,” said Agbonlahor.
