Barry Bannan was today heading for the exit door with Villa reportedly in talks over £5m Lazio striker Libor Kozak.
Midfielder Bannan, one of several players told he can find a new club by Paul Lambert, was this morning undergoing a medical at Crystal Palace.
The 23-year-old Scotland international, who has been at Villa Park since the age of 14 and is a product of club’s youth system, has made 52 appearances for the club but has fallen out of favour.
Palace boss Ian Holloway rejected a move earlier in the season but needing reinforcements, he has decided to now press ahead.
Bannan did not travel with the Villa squad for the pre-season tour of Germany and was one of several players told they could leave, along with Stephen Ireland and Shay Given. The latter was linked with a surprise move to Liverpool over the weekend.
With Bannan on the way out, Lambert is reported to be in talks with Kozak, after he caught the eye by finishing top scorer in last season’s Europa League.
The 6ft 3in striker failed to score in 18 Serie A games and Lazio are willing to let him go to free up other funds.
