Aston Villa are set to complete the signing of Holland under-21 star Leandro Bacuna after Groningen confirmed the deal.
The midfield ace will become manager Paul Lambert’s second summer signing as the club’s transfer business gathers further pace.
Bacuna is expected to sign a three-year deal, after he reportedly underwent a medical in Birmingham today.
As part of the deal Villa will also play a friendly at Groningen next year.
They are expected to clinch deals for Aalborg’s Nicklas Helenius and his Danish international team-mate Jores Okore from Nordsjaelland soon.
Lambert has also signed Aleksandar Tonev from Polish club Lech Poznan with the club putting their faith in the foreign market.
The Villa boss, who was hunting six signings at the start of the summer, is eager to get the bulk of his business done early.
Villa jet out to Germany on their pre-season tour on July 7 and are keen to avoid getting stung by higher fees.
