Wigan's 3-2 defeat to Swansea last night kept Villa five points above the drop zone with two games left – ending with an end-of-season showdown at the third-bottom Latics.

Villa host Chelsea on Saturday knowing a win would guarantee survival after a season of Premier League struggle.

And Agbonlahor insisted Paul Lambert's side cannot take their top flight future for granted.

He said: "We don't want to say we are safe yet, just go into each game getting the three points out of each one. We are not thinking it is over.

"We are going to carry on and try to win every game. It's credit to the league and the teams that are in the league. Teams are beating everyone."

Agbonlahor bagged a brace in Saturday's 2-1 win at Norwich to take his tally to six goals in his last seven games.

He has 12 goals for the season, including the late strike in last week's 6-1 win over Sunderland, after the victory at the Canaries, Lambert's former club.

And Agbonlahor said the manager had kept his cool after a bitter exit from Carrow Road last summer.

He said: "All he said was go out there and play your game and the right tactics and it ended up coming good. The main thing on our minds was to get the three points, nothing else.

"They had a few chances as well but we always feel with the players we have got we will create a few chances, which we had and maybe we should have scored more than two."

Meanwhile, Brad Guzan won Players' Player and Supporters' Player of the Year at last night's awards dinner.

The goalkeeper has excelled this season after replacing Shay Given at the start of the campaign.

Christian Benteke scooped Players' Young Player of the Year after 22 goals, while Andreas Weimann picked up Supporters' Young Player of the Year.,

Matt Lowton won Goal of the Season for his stunning strike against Stoke.
