Andreas Weimann was today hailed as a “natural finisher” by manager Paul Lambert after the striker’s heroics helped Villa reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
The Austria international scored twice in Villa’s 4-1 win over Norwich after Brett Holman had equalised before Christian Benteke rounded off the scoring in injury time.
Lambert said: “One thing about Andi Weimann is that he is a natural finisher. His work ethic to the game of football is absolutely brilliant.
“Whether Andi is on x-amount of money it doesn’t matter, you’ll get the same out of him every week and that is testament to him.
“We gave him a little break and he came back and showed he is a natural finisher.
“He knows his own game pretty decent for someone so young. He was brilliant.”
