Deadline deals not a part of Villa plans
Tuesday 31st January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
Alex McLeish today revealed he currently has “no plans” for the last day of the transfer window with Villa unlikely to do any business before it slams shut.
The Villa boss has signed ex-Wolves striker Robbie Keane on loan from LA Galaxy and snapped up promising left-back Enda Stevens from Shamrock Rovers in January as well as let some fringe players head out on loan.
It is a contrast to August when the claret and blues wrapped up the 11th hour deadline day signing of Alan Hutton for £3.5m from Tottenham and brought midfielder Jermaine Jenas in on loan.
“I’ve totally ignored the transfer deadline. I keep saying we’ve got a wage bill to manage and we’ve not really wavered from that,” said McLeish.
Meanwhile Villa striker Darren Bent insisted scoring a century of Premier League goals will only mean something if it is in a winning cause for Villa against QPR.
The England international moved on to a total of 99 after his penalty in Villa’s 3-2 win at Wolves.
