Marc Albrighton’s reason for Villa form

Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton has revealed his blistering return to form can be attributed to watching a DVD of his own best bits with the rest of his family.
The 22-year-old has started the last four games for Villa and has found the net twice, having reproduced the kind of displays which helped him break into the first team last season.
And Albrighton, who scored the 20,000th goal in the Premier League against Arsenal on Wednesday, revealed the secret to his success.
He said: “I’ve watched videos on good parts of my performances from last season.
“I am more positive in the way in which I analyse my performance. The staff at Villa are great for that and they gave me DVDs of my best bits from last year to watch to try to build up my confidence before games.
“When you look back at yourself doing the good things, you take a lot of it into your performance.”
Albrighton had plenty of encouragement from Villa boss Alex McLeish during his lean spell and now feels he is closing something close to his best form.
He said: “The belief wasn’t there maybe but the manager told me I have to just keep working hard throughout the tough times.
“Some people might just jack it in and give up but I think if you work hard it will all pay off in the end and, given my recent performances, I would like to think it has.
“If you’re confident you can go past a man you just do it naturally. But if that confidence is a bit low then you won’t have that belief in yourself to try more ambitious things.
“The result is you end up just doing the simple things because you are so worried something might not come off.
“You go through stages when you’re not in form where nothing seems to work for you or comes off for you.
“But then you go through a run of games where everything you try comes off and that is football at times.
“It’s a game full of ups and downs but I’m confident I can kick on from here.”
