Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Marc Albrighton: I’m staying at Aston Villa

Marc Albrighton today revealed that leaving Villa has never entered his head despite enduring a frustrating couple of months at the club.
The 22-year-old winger was expected to fill part of the void left by the sales of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing but struggled to make an impact in the early part of the season.
It also led to speculation that Albrighton could leave the club with Rangers one of the clubs linked with a move him but the academy graduate insisted he has no intention of exiting Villa.
“I haven’t seen those rumours. I have a mate at Rangers, but I won’t be going there any time soon. I don’t want to think about leaving at the minute,” said Albrighton who bounced back to form with a man-of-the-match display against Bolton last time out.
“I know things had not been great but I am a Villa boy and I can’t think of anything worse than leaving the club that’s given me all my games and all my happy moments.
“One day I may have to leave and it will be a sad day but, at the minute, I am concentrating on playing well for Villa.”
Albrighton also admitted he never requested to go out on loan in a bid to recapture his form.
“The manager told me I was in his plans, he wanted me to get back to my best and as soon as I was then he wanted to put me in,” said Albrighton.
“I have not said anything to him about going out.”
