Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Aston Villa won’t sell Darren Bent
Friday 4th November 2011, 11:00PM GMT.
Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish today branded rumours that Darren Bent will be sold as “utter rubbish.”
Internet message boards and micro-blogging site Twitter had been full of conjecture this week that the claret and blues’ record £24million signing could be allowed to leave the club in the transfer window.
They largely claimed that Bent was unhappy with the departures of both Ashley Young and Stewart Downing in the summer and with a perceived lack of ambition shown by the club.
Villa’s hierarchy had already privately dismissed speculation that Bent wanted to leave less than year after joining the club, but McLeish has now assured supporters that there are no plans to sell the England international.
The Villa boss said: “It’s utter nonsense. It is utter rubbish. It is a phenomenon of the modern world – Twitter and Facebook – and it is not my world.
“I think you can find any story in there. I am sure there will be a few beauties about me but don’t tell me! Am I under pressure to sell a big name? No. It is not ever been thought about let alone discussed.”
