Kevin Doyle ‘lost his heart’ to Wolves

Wolves striker Kevin Doyle today revealed he signed his new deal because he has lost his heart to the club’s long-term vision.

The £6.5million striker, who penned a new four-year deal on Wednesday, admits he may never win silverware during the time of his new contract.

But Doyle wants to play his part in competing for a debt-free club in the top half of the Premier League in the £40million rebuilt Molineux.

He said: “It would be nice to think I could achieve something with Wolves, but it’s also a question of how you determine achievement.

“I’ve seen the club grow just in two years and I would love to still be here to see the stadium finished because it’s going to be a really top-class facility.

“That would give me a real sense of fulfilment and achievement.”

Just pick your game up my son, another couple of levels should do, and then and only then will you be able to say that you achieved something.

A few more goals would be nice seeing you are being paid as a Premiership striker.

Great to read a player keeping things in perspective.

If he scores 300 Goals he can pick a stand to be named after him!

Wolves have built a good squad full of players ready to graft ‘week in week out’ for the club.

That’s down to the 3M’s, long may it continue.

Its no longer about the quality of the squad – we can compete with most of the clubs outside of the top 2 or 3.

It remains about consistency – for as long as I can remember we have always been too inconsistent, winning great games and then loosing ones we should have won. There are no mugs in the Premiership, an so we have to win against those around us, and those between the top 2 or 3 and the rest.

Lets focus on working hard and competing EVERY GAME, making it hard for the opposition, and winning through hard work and determination in every game….. and the by product of that will be the return of the fans even if its on TV.

    Starting tomorrow – UTW

Doyler’s contribution to us staying in the Premier League for the first time ever was in my view the biggest achievement by any Wolves player for many years.

Last season we just survived, but the 2nd season is notoriously hard, and no matter how close, was another worthy achievement.

The next step for Doyler is to improve on the partnership with Fletch, which I believe will happen if Mick perseveres with 4-4-2, even when things aren’t going well.

not sure about him scoring 300 goals, but ‘ANY’ would be nice…

All the numpties saying the team are better without him are just talking nonsense, but I think w can all agree that Doyle is a better player when he has Fletcher up there with him… i also think Fletcher is a better player with Doyle.

(i’d still swap the both of them though for a 28 year old Steve Bull)

We’ve said it so many times before but ‘do your talking on the pitch’

Really need three points tomorrow to arrest our poor form of late and with the break coming up we don’t want to be looking at the drop zone after such a promising start.

Not so sure about 4-4-2 though, Newcastle are a very free scoring side and we need to play well defensively or they’ll take us to the cleaners.

Great signing, especially as he still had a good two years on his contract. Feel he did have his head turned with all the pre season speculation but now hopefully this deal & his fitness restored should see him return to his best form & start hitting the back of the net & helping Super Stevie Fletcher do the same as I still don’t think we’ve seen the best of this patnership, can only get better…

Hope Doherty keeps his place at RB & I’d like to see Hammill start or at the very least get a good half hour 2nd half…

I agree with Staffs Wolf that all the bravado talk to the press needs to stop. fact is we are proving we are an inconsistent team that over the last four games ( I would include the Villa game ) is trending towards the relegation places.

it os time for this team to tale on and convincingly beat an unbeaten Newcastle side to demonstrate what many pundits have stated is a Wolves team that should accomplish a mid table place this season.

Without Fletcher playing regularly I cannot see us in mid table . Doyle simply does not provide enough firepower despite the work rate, running the channels etc etc . Jarvis needs to buck his ideas up as he was been grossly disappointing to date. And our midfield needs to improve both in terms of possession and passing accuracy.

Defensively, we still lack sufficient quality and Johnson is another player that is really not delivering what was promised. Hennessey is , for me, our only bright spot. he is improving rapidly and that a worry because if we keep flirting with the bottom three places we will lose him.

So it is time for the whole side to step it up starting NOW!!!

    Come on you Wolves!!!

14,could you just explain to me why you think we will get the 3 points against newcastle, blind faith ,stupidty ? its hard to be 100% sure.as for doyle,he is verging on useless, surely we need more than a striker who will either fall down or concede possession everytime, to me he has gone backwards in his involvement in the games, fletcher is a much more polished act,but clearly not one of the favourites.i dont really care what rubbish doyle spouts i am only interested to see him in high double figures at the end of the season, and that my friend aint gonna happen !

Pablo – Now no-one flame me for this but apart from a handful of goals for England, 2 of which great strikes, we never saw Steve Bull do it at the highest level of the game consistantly. Sure he was an amazing player for us but one thing he never did was play at the highest level in English League football.

I believe he would have cut it, but theres no evidence to support it. There are many strikers who score bags of goals in the lower leagues but cant quite make that very big final step up.

For anyone to hint fit 26 year old Steve Bull would be better than a Doyle is not only bizarre but actually unproven. I cant put Doyle down because of how good Bully was its not really fair.

Don’t keep running to the wing away from goal as you will score one in every ten matches. And also stay on your feet, you fall down most every time the ball comes to you. Apart from these issues I’m sure he puts a shift in and if anybody comes in when he fit we may get our money back. Fletcher on his own up front would be a better way of not getting beat!

Most of the comments on this page seem to express how important Doyle is to the Wolves cause.
I can only say that these are the very happy clappers who dont see the games and our related to Doyle,Mick,Stearman,Ward etc….
How can anyone in the right mind say that Doyle is a must?!
What you need to do Numpties is look at last seasons game’s and all of this season’s games and you will realise your pretty cluless.
Doyle had a hugh impact in our first season and looked one of our best players.
However since then he as been in decline,in terms of form,in relation to goals I can say quiet confidently if he gets to double figures he will have done well.
It just goes to show how far Sir Billy quiet is from the truth suggessting 300!!!!
This is a real Numpty writing!!!!
Doyle as been very poor for the last 35 game’s or so.I am not one who likes blind loyality, when the statistics quiet clearly show that he is just not performing and is lucky to be in the team.
Doyle’s game is all about holding the ball via chest and trying to get free kicks but this as come to a sudden halt.
Goals have never come, shots never come headers never come..Just goes to show how armchair fans make such inaccurate claims!
Doyle does work hard but if he didnt do this how would he get paid?
I would run around for 90minutes non-stop chasing and harrassing for 30grand a week!!!
Dont forget when he was bought Mick said” He is top class and will get plenty of goals!!”15 in 67 game’s! Hardly record breaking stuff….
Arsenal had a 19 yr old score on wednesday!Yet Doyle is still learning his trade!
How long do players want to learn, how long does it take for a player to shoot once in a game?
Doyle you are a good player but you need to improve at once in scoring, shooting, heading, taking players on,passing……these are the areas that matter and your stats shout out loud and clear that you are poor in these aspects of the game.

rich5wolves, you are right, steve bull did not score consistantly at the top level.

now , how do i dismantle your argument?

the only striker in living memory to play in the third division and get picked for his england.

wwfc only reached the top division in, 2003, steve bull had retired through injury ????.

so, to keep things in perspective our all time leading scorer ,if he were playing division one football for whoever in 1989 i am sure would have scored more than a handfull of goals for england. utw
