Emile Heskey set for two weeks out
Wednesday 14th September 2011, 1:30PM BST.
Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey is set for a two-week spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury – but Jermaine Jenas could be fit to face Bolton in the Carling Cup next week.
Striker Heskey limped out of the draw at Everton on Saturday and, after a scan, manager Alex McLeish today confirmed Heskey will miss the next few games.
McLeish said: “Emile’s got a nick in his hamstring and that’s not an overnight job, so it will be a few weeks but I don’t know exactly how long.
“We could ill-afford to lose vital members from the squad, but it’s a challenge for somebody to make it hard for Emile to get back in.”
The Villa boss was more positive with news concerning on-loan Tottenham midfielder Jenas, who will return to training soon after a thigh injury.
He said: “Jermaine has had treatment and we’re hopeful it will allow him to be involved in the cup game.”
McLeish also confirmed defender Eric Lichaj has undergone surgery on his hip and will be out for fourth months, but Carlos Cuellar is close to fitness after a knee injury.
