Villa pair face up to two weeks out

Aston Villa were today checking on the fitness of Emile Heskey and Jermaine Jenas after boss Alex McLeish confirmed they could be on the sidelines for the next fortnight.

Heskey limped out of Villa’s 2-2 draw with Everton at the weekend with a hamstring injury while Jenas did not even make the matchday squad, after picking up a thigh problem in training.

McLeish said: “Emile looks like he’s pulled a hammy but I don’t know how bad it is, so he will get a scan today.

“Jermaine got a kicking strain in his thigh and there was no way we were risking him. I think he was a bit over-zealous.

“He really pushed himself in training.”
