Villa hoping Darren Bent will be fit
Wednesday 7th September 2011, 11:00AM BST.
Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is refusing to give up on Darren Bent returning to the team at Everton on Saturday after revealing the extent of the striker’s injury.
Bent missed England’s Euro 2012 qualifying wins over Bulgaria and Wales with a groin problem, but McLeish is hopeful of having the 27-year-old back for the trip to Goodison Park.
The Villa boss said: “He’s not going to miss three or four games or anything like that. Now we are trying to get him ready for the weekend. It is not a serious injury.
“He is not going to be out for two or three weeks. He’s not been on the pitch but has been working in the gym with the machines and technology we have at our disposal.
“We will treat him with caution and haven’t been exposing him to the hard ground. At this moment in time, so he is doing some work in the pool and a few other things.”
