Villa linked with Darron Gibson move

Aston Villa were today linked with Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson – but any move hinges on manager Alex McLeish moving players on.
The Republic of Ireland international and former Wolves loanee saw a move to Sunderland fall through last month and is available for £3.5million.
The 23-year-old is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford following the emergence of Tom Cleverley and is keen to get his career back on track.
Villa have recouped more than £35million from the sale of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing , buying Shay Given and Charles N’Zogbia for a combined £13million.
But manager Alex McLeish still needs to free up more cash, before next Wednesday, to seal a deal for Gibson before the summer transfer window closes.
